We never made the tour due to very poor communication and apathy of the tour operator. We used google maps for the designated area for pickup, arrived 10 minutes before departure, and called the tour operator to inquire about the pickup. She said we were not in the specific spot but offered no help in getting us to their specific spot. She said she would call me back after talking with the driver but never did. I called her back and she said matter of factly, the driver could not wait and has gone. Offered no assistance and no empathy, just hung up on me. This is a shame because I have used Viator for many tours and have had great experiences with both the tour operators and Viator personnel. I’ve been denied restitution by Viator due to the tour operator not agreeing to any fault. Unfortunately this will cause me to look at other ways to book my tours in the future.

Our guide Isabella was very informative and gave information on both the movie locations and the history of the towns which was nice. Definitely worth it to see the film locations but also the beautiful traditional villages. Pick up and drop off were easy from main Taormina bus station. If you like the godfather films then do it or even if you don’t but want to visit two traditional Sicilian villages then do the tour, it has something for everyone. Only advice I would give is that you don’t have enough time in each village to sit and eat, only a drink so if you join the tour in the afternoon at 2:55pm like I did then eat before but if you can wait then eat in Taormina after like I did as you get back about 7:45pm depending on traffic.

The tour guide Isabella is a real gem, very caring, polite and skilled person, also the bus driver Tonino was absolutely brilliant, driving in Sicily can be very challenging, he kept us all safe, thank you both for a lovely little tour and real Sicilian experience! I will definitely do it again! 😘😘

I wouldn't waste my time or money on this tour. No atmosphere. We did a Soprano tour in New York/Jersey years ago it was fantastic, guide was knowledgeable , guide told jokes, they played music on the bus from the TV shows, showed clips from the movie on the bus TVs, did a quiz and gave us a cannoli at the end. The Godfather Tour was boring, no music, no jokes, no atmosphere. You got to a town on a hill they showed you the bar and the church from the movie, then you were to look around a dead- end town for 1 and 1/4 hours, the same in the next town, they told you to walk around for 1 and 1/4 hours and meet at the square from the movie. Boring Tour

The trip was uneventful. A steep walk to the church with no guidance from our tour guide. stressful. Off to the other church where our tour guide again disappeared. Then we were told that we needed to spend money in order to visit the bar. We when grateful when we could board the bus.

No clear explanation that the catacombs were open dressed skeletons, and some may wish to avoid them. (NB catacombs in the uk are normally stone coffins which you can’t see into). No explanation as to if/ why the visit to them was included in a godfather themed tour. No warning/ explanations about distance and terrain of walks, or that using a piaggi taxi was an option. No explanation that the donation for entering church was expected. No explanations or stories about the filming or actors. No explanation that bar Vitoria doesn’t allow coach trips so we all had to queue separately to go in. No info about what you could see in bar Vitoria and its relevance. No additional info re next stops, length of journeys, info about surroundings. Saw other guides explains about caper plants or wall frescoes. Ours didn’t. No clarity on directions, where we were going. Guide seemed to expect someone else to take the lead. Vague statement that we would get granita in square after church visit- didn’t say this was up to us to purchase. Guide spoke very poor English and didn’t appear to understand questions, never mind answer them. Didn’t explain expected return times clearly so people were late back. No aircon on coach, until clients were so hot they had to ask for it. Not what we expect from a tour that we paid a significant amount for. Very poor. Tbh, never had such a bad, uninterested and incapable guide. It spoilt the tour completely and we learnt nothing. WhatsApp prior to the tour said guides name was Guiseppa, but she never introduced herself.

Guide was awful. Dropped us off, very little interaction and only saw her at the drop off/meeting place. Your ad should state most areas are unsuitable for clients with mobility issues, not suitable for walking frames.I was unable to get to the church.Guide did not tell us about the local "taxis" that take you up for €5.Visit to cattacombs unnecessary, all in Italian, no connection to The Godfather tour, just more strenuous uphill walking, guide offered no explanation to the history. These comments apply to both Savoca and Forza D'Argo.Poor value for money from a holiday experience.Saw other groups with guide and listened to their info as our guide was nowhere to be seen.Unfair we pay same fare for a guide who tells us very little and your reviews rave about other guides fantastic narration throughout the trip. There were lots of other people unhappy with the service, and people who were unable to access the tour attractions.

Terrible. Tour guide was awful. Didn’t engage us on the bus ride or give us good information and instructions on the stops and what to do. Drop up off in the square across from Bar Vitelli said to meet there at a certain time to go in and when we did they said you had to purchase something from the bar to enter but it was time to go. I told the tour guide and she told me “strange”, she didn’t care. We had to hurry our order and head back to the bus. Will not recommend this tour to anyone.

Even for a big godfather fan this was a disappointing excursion. For those only slightly interested in the godfather, it must have been very disappointing. Tour guide gave very little details and free time was not needed. Very large coach load so difficult logistics. Would be better with a knowledgeable guide who took a smaller group around. Plus the tour should pay bar vitelli the 5 euri fee for photos to save time.

Paul_M

Very disappoint in the process and they way things were explained. The four of us felt that we were completely on our own.
