A full day with an entertaining and friendly guide. We saw more of the island than we were expecting. The food at lunchtime was also very good. Although foggy at Erice you could tell it was in a beautiful location. We all enjoyed our day.

Experience of viewing the agricultural landscape outside of Palermo on the drive to Marsala was a highlight for me. Other highlights included Walking through historic Marsala, visiting the fish market, sampling salami thanks to our local personal driver Francesco, visiting a salt lagoon, tasting flavored salts & especially touring Cantina Donna Franca with owner Paola & experiencing the divine 3 course lunch Donna Franca’s chef prepared was of course a perfect pairing with 3 of their wines. My only disappointment is we were in Marsala & did not get to sample Marsala wines. I would have paid extra for an educational small sample tasting opportunity of dry to sweet Marsala.

Our driver was fabulous so no complaints there. But there was no olive oil tasting and there was also no tour/opportunity to tour the salt area in Trapani (that was due to school children inundating the salt area). Our guide/driver, Marco, suggested another activity which was great (an archaeological island with ancient artifacts), but we were hoping to learn about the special salt in Trapani. Segesta was spectacular and the wine tasting thorough, and lunch tasty. But as we didn't do about half what what we paid for, we can't give this tour more than 3 stars.

While we LOVED Marco (our driver and guide) we were unable to experience the salt portion due to school children inundating the place. Marco was able to suggest a visit to a nearby island with some ancient relics which was interesting, but it was not a visit to the salt flats that we had wanted. Additionally, there was zero olive oil on this tour. The Marsala wine tour was quite long and detailed, and the lunch there was very good, but we were very much looking forward to the olive oil tasting/tour. The visit to Segesta was wonderful. Marco was excellent, and everything in his control was great. He gets a 5* rating, but we did not experience about half of what we expected and paid for.
