Sistine Chapel

Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel One of the most iconic experiences in Vatican City is visiting the Sistine Chapel, and once you step inside, you'll understand why. It's no wonder that this masterpiece is revered as one of the greatest works of art in Western civilization. Since the chapel is a sacred place of worship, speaking is not allowed inside, and your guide won't be able to provide commentary while you're there. But fear not, they'll provide commentary before entering ensuring that you're fully prepared to take in all the wonders of the Sistine Chapel. To gain entry into the Sistine Chapel, both men and women must ensure that their knees and shoulders are covered. Failure to comply might result in the Vatican denying entry to religious sites. We understand that the Roman summers can be scorching, so a great alternative is to bring a shawl, scarf, or sweater with you. Get ready to be spellbound by the sheer grandeur of the Sistine Chapel!

The reason for a poor review was that this tour was a bait and switch. They advertised as a 10 hr day full of different activities. We started out the AM great. Tour guide, Gabriele, was knowledgeable, friendly & pleasant. Group was great. However, after the morning he said the tour was over and we were left scrambling to figure out what we were supposed to do. I had printed out ALL my instructions prior to leaving. They clearly stated the full day. Gabriele had no instructions for us. The emails sent prior to this tour had non working links. Since we had about an hour before the afternoon events, I tried calling, emailing to no avail. Finally, viator responded via WhatsApp & even they were confused. We ended up paying for the Vatican tour on our own again & missed out on St. Peter’s basilica due to all the time & energy wasted on trying to find help. We did ask for refund & I supplied all my documents/emails/screenshots but considering I lost my one activity on my personal bucket list to view, that is irreplaceable. There was never an apology or explanation. When I log onto viator, it list an amended tour & this one no longer appears. I have access to it bc of the email asking for this review. Beware of this vendor.

This was an amazing experience. I doubt we would have enjoyed it as much without Sarah who shared so many facts & knowledge. Worth spending that bit extra to have such a great tour/experience. Thanks for making it so memorable for us
