Very disappointing tour Food was almost all sweets Very expensive for 1.5 hours Minimal stories /background from guide

The tour did not start off well. Our meeting point arrangements had never been very clear, but we received a message as we were walking out of our hotel to that meeting point to say that the meeting point had been changed!!! We then had to get a taxi for 15 Euros to the new meeting point. We were less than happy about this. What saved the day was our tremendous guide - a delightful, charming young lady called Viola whose knowledge of the Taormina food scene was excellent. The tour was so relaxed it was like going around the town with a friend. This was probably helped by the fact that our small group turned out to be just my wife & I. We had 4 stops. Firstly to a boutega for samples of pizza & also bread with ricotta cheese. Secondly to a shop selling freshly baked arancinis. My wife & I shared a Melanzane arancini which was very nice (&filling!). Third stop was just off Corso Umberto where we had a cannolo/cannoli/cannola filled with sweetish ricotta cheese plus an almond paste pastry, all very tasty. By this stage I was already having to loosen my belt another notch! But we weren’t finished yet. Last stop was a chocolate shop where we gorged ourselves on free samples of chocolate. We were reluctant to end the tour as we had enjoyed the food so much & we would also miss the company of our new friend, the excellent Viola. We even forgot about the bad weather the tour was so enjoyable. Her recommendations of where to eat out in Taormina were so helpful for us & as a result we enjoyed anoutstanding meal at Osteria da Rita. Our heart felt thanks to Viola for creating a special memory for us both.

No drinks offered. Not even water. Poor food selection. Extremely mad and disappointed. Way over priced for little tastes of mediocre food in a country and region with amazing cheap food anywhere you stop. Any simple pasta or pizza would have been better . Any small restaurant or cart would have been better. Very angry and disappointed and embarrassed for my guests that I tried to surprise. Would never recommend and I have experienced many many street food tours all over the world
