This tour was like going around town with a good friend. We are pescatarian and Mike chose wonderful alternatives to meat dishes that still showcased the local cuisine. At each spot we went to, he talked a lot about the history of the location. My husband and I learned so much. When we come back to Rome, we would want to go on more tours with Mike.

This tour was everything we wanted and more. Mike was so friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable. We learned so much history about the incredible City of Rome, and ate even more then we expected. Mike went out of his way for us, at one point it didn’t even feel like your standard vacation tour, but more like we were just walking around Rome with an old friend who was local and sharing all the best spots with us. As I write this we’ve already gone back to 2 of the four spots he took us to. We still have 3 days left here in Rome and we plan on hitting the rest before we leave. We can’t thank Mike enough for guiding us through the most epic food and wine tour Rome had to offer. Do not think twice about booking this, you won’t be disappointed!!!

I’ve done this type of tour a number of times with different tour operators but Michele has been the BEST! He’s very knowledgeable, and so much fun. We loved meeting him and will be a repeat for years to come.

Mike Henry was an amazing tour guy. Very polite. Down to earth person. Highly recommend next time when doing the tour again

Michel was the best! He told us stories about the history of where we ate. He fed us traditional Roman food and wine which was so cool! He was accommodating of our schedule. He was so helpful, we could not recommend him more.

Host was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the local history. Food was great, and the shop owners were very happy to see us. Would definitely recommend.

My husband booked the Food tour of the Garbatella neighborhood on the Iter Tours website. Our guide was Michele, who is a proud "local" of the neighborhood (we walked by his apartment building during the tour). During the tour, we learned a TON about the history behind this not-very-touristy neighborhood. We also ate a lot of delicious food from locally owned restaurants. The tour started with a glass of prosecco and ended with scoops of gelato-how perfect is that? This was our second tour with Michele. We really appreciated how easy it was to book his tours and how reasonably the tours were priced---especially for the small size and high quality of the tours. We'd booked other Rome tours with larger tour companies and quickly became frustrated by their impersonal nature. We highly recommed Michele and Iter Tours for memorable "boutique" tours.

We were pointed towards an evening Roman food tour with only a few hours to enjoy Rome the day before boarding a cruise. As a chef, and restaurant owner, this has never been my go-to experience, but it was available, and the other three in my party loved the idea. With a new friend from Austin, Texas, the five of us connected with Michele (my grandfather’s name!) and launched into our food adventure, a local food tour in the Trastevere area in Rome. The best food in any city is where the locals go, so we ate in some of those same places. Cheese, pasta, fish, cured meats, gelato, and vino — it was far more than a great meal, and the views of the city, and the Tiber at night, were tremendous. We discovered US connections with Michele, which created an even more excellent experience than the food alone. The food was wonderful, but Michele’s accounting of the history, and the food-making stories, made it even better. After 26–years of guides and tours, and having led/guided tours myself, I can say that Michele was one of the best guide experiences we’ve had. So good in fact that, after embarking on our cruise and knowing we’d have an afternoon in Rome before our flights home upon our return, we reconnected with Michele for a tour of the Catacombs in Rome. Fantastic! We’re looking forward to future visits where our first call in Rome will be to Iter Tours.

Mike was one of the most amazing tour guides we have ever had. He went above and beyond for my wife and I and I couldn’t recommend going through this tour guide company more! One of the best experiences of our honeymoon.

Great tour of some of the best food I’ve had in Europe. We enjoyed our tour guide Fiona’s fun descriptions of both Italian and Roman culture and food. The shops and restaurants visited were family owned and all had amazing flavor. We took this tour on our first night in Rome and we are very pleased that we did. Thank you Fiona!
