Cantina Del Vesuvio Winery Russo Family since 1930

We will relax in this beautiful family-run winery in the National Park of Mt Vesuvius. It is beautifully scenic and it is going to be a fun experience. Please be aware this item is not included in the starting price of the tour. First, there will be a short guided walk to the vineyard to discover this unique land and how they produce their “Lacryma Christi” wines. During lunch, you will taste several different wines and the waiter will introduce it. Lunch consists of a set menu: Appetizers: Bruschetta, provolone cheese, salame and capocollo cured pork meat Main: Spaghetti with the cherry tomatoes “del Piennolo” from Mt Vesuvius Dessert: “Pastiera” - wheat and ricotta cake 5 different wines will be served (Rosè Sparkling, White, Rosé. Red, Red Reserva, sweet Dessert Wine). The cost is € 28 per person that can be paid on the spot with a card or cash. There also is an upgraded version of the wines for the cost of € 35 per person.

Vesuvius National Park

Your driver will take care of tickets and will bring you the closest to the beginning of the trail. It takes approx. 30 minutes up the hill on a trail made of gravel and ash. You will be in the sun and exposed to wind. On the top, you can listen to the live introduction of a volcanologist. This is a 10 minutes shared talk in English that starts every few minutes. You can walk halfway around the crater on your own. This takes about 30 minutes. There are great pictures opportunity on a clear day. Then you walk down the same way to meet your driver. There is a café by the parking lot if somebody does not feel like climbing up.

This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip for my partner and I. Our driver Vincenzo was very prompt and attentive, which he highly appreciated. The food and wine at Cantina Del Vesuvio was impeccable, we enjoyed the experience there far more than any wineries we had been to in Tuscany. I would also like to make a special mention to our Pompeii guide Fabio, he was so evidently passionate about his work and the tour was so engaging, we enjoyed every minute of the day and would highly recommend booking with this operator again.

Pasquale picked us up promptly at our hotel. He was a wonderful driver with a very nice van, very clean. He was so friendly and knowledgeable. He dropped us off at each tour that he booked for us, explained exactly what we were doing and what time he would pick us up. He made us feel very safe and well taken care of. I would recommend Pasquale to anyone!!! Our guide at Pompeii, Danilo (a colleague of Pasquale's) was very puctual, trustworthy, and very friendly. What a memorable day. One of my sons says it might have been the best day of his life!

Guiseppe was a guide extraordinare. He displayed excellent local knowledge about the Pompei and Herucleum sites down to the last detail, from the grand villas to the daily lives of the ordinary people who lived there, and was happy to answer all of my questions even the most banal!. He also gave us great advice on visiting the Museum of Archaeology in Napoli (absolutely worth a visit) and even the best pizza place in Naples. Plus he will humor you on your attempts at Italian (saying this for a friend :) He is a 'mover and shaker' in tour guide circles (inside joke!)

My husband and I had a wonderful day with Giuseppe, one of the co-owners. He collected us at our hotel right on time. His vehicle was very nice and he is a good, careful driver so that was great (I have a bit of car phobia with strange drivers). I had never done a tour like this before, I was never sure it was worth it since there is so much information you can find yourself. I was very wrong. It is totally worth the price! A high quality private guided tour eliminates the "ordeal" aspect of sight seeing and travel - you really get to just relax and take in the experience. Everything is completely taken care of--tickets, scheduling, transport-- so the day becomes a wonderful indulgence, with none of the "work" aspect that comes with doing it on your own. Our guide Giuseppe was perfect. He is very relaxed, knowledgeable and extremely kind. He has great flexibility- he asks what you are interested in and regularly seeks input so he can customize the tour to your interests and knowledge level. There is plenty of walking with this tour but my husband and I (65 and 60) are reasonably fit so it was no problem. The pacing of the day was great, with an amazing wine lunch in the middle (the wine was delicious but the special olive oil and vinegar from the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius was phenomenal.) I had visited Pompeii about ten years ago, using the audio guides and spent the entire day there but my understanding of the site was still slight. In the few hours spent with Giuseppe guiding us to the best spots, avoiding crowds, and providing insights and explanations I learned so much more than during my first visit. We went to the MANN archeology museum the next day which, after all of the information from Giuseppe, really helped to bring the two ancient cities to life. My only regret is that we did not have Giuseppe give us a guided tour of the museum.

Giuseppe is an extraordinary guide! Giuseppe’s communication from booking until meeting us for the tour was exceptional. He greeted us warmly at our Air BNB then drove us to Pompeii incorporating all the points of interest along the way. The depth of his knowledge of Pompeii’s history, art and geography was very impressive. Giuseppe customized the day to our individual interests and helped us avoid the crowds. Our group of 6 spent the whole day with Fabrizio and we all had an amazing time! First of all, Fabrizio is very knowledgeable, friendly and so easy to get along with. Getting to ask all our questions with a most accomplished guide was the best part - he knew everything and was eager to explain. He is also funny... or maybe because we are a funny group, we make everything funny :-P The wine tasting was also really great! Lunch was excellent and the wine, WOW! I just can't say enough great things about our day with Leisure Italy. Pompeii and the winery didn't disappoint and we're glad we met Fabrizio.

Fabrizio has such a great knowledge of Italy. From the history, to the artwork, Archaeology, and the absolute best places to eat. Fabrizio went above and beyond to make our experience in Italy unforgetable.
