Florence

Florence, the spectacular capital of the region of Tuscany, is a stunning medieval city divided into two parts by the River and it is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world with its overflow of palaces, churches and museums filled with masterful paintings and sculptures. Florence is justifiably called “the capital of arts”. The city transmits a multitude of emotions and sensations to all travelers: scents, flavors and works of art stimulate the senses step after step and remain engraved on the memory. Surrounded by lovely hills, Florence is an open air museum which houses some of the most precious treasures of Italy including the Cathedral with its splendid Dome designed by Brunelleschi, Giotto’s Campanile, the Uffizi Gallery, and much, much more. But it is the hidden and lesser known Florence that will remain in your heart: the Florence that you will discover with our guided walking tour!

Gallerie Degli Uffizi

The Uffizi Gallery, in Florence’s Historic Center, is a gem of a museum, and a treasure trove of many of Italy’s greatest artistic masterpieces. This magnificent complex houses some of the world’s most beautiful works from the 1300s and from the Renaissance. It is one of the most famous and most-frequented museums on the globe, beloved for its precious collections of paintings and ancient statues. A tour of the grand halls of the Gallery is a discovery of one marvel after another: Classical sculptures, tapestries, furnishings and, above all, “miracles” in painting. Here, visitors can gape at, among other titles, Gentile da Fabriano’s Adoration of the Magi, Cimabue’s Santa Trinita Maestà, Giotto’s Ognissanti Madonna, Botticelli’s Primavera and Venus, Leonardo’s Adoration of the Magi, the Doni Tondo by Michelangelo, the Cardellino Madonna by Raphael, Titian’s Venus of Urbino, and Caravaggio’s Bacchus, all masterworks that pay tribute to both Italian and foreign art.

Galleria dell'Accademia

This is a must stop for anyone visiting Florence since it houses the "David" of Michelangelo sculpted between 1501-1504 to be an outside decoration of the Cathedral of Florence, it became instead a symbol of the Florentine State commitment to freedom and independence, as well as a symbol of the Medici's defeat in 1494. It still personifies energy, vigor and courage, symbolizing the whole mankind fight for survival. His anatomy, later reproduced by Michelangelo’s contemporaries, was carefully depicted, thanks to the in-depth studies carried out by the great artist.Nowadays, the Accademia Gallery houses not only the “David”, there are four statues of the Slaves commissioned by pope Julius II as a decoration of his grave, these statues are known as “The Prisoners”. Also exposed the “Mourning over Jesus Christ” and “St. Matthew”. The museum houses an interesting collection of paintings from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and the early 17th century.
