Your Itinerary

Portico d’Ottavia

(Pass by)

Start your Rome foodie adventure in the historic Jewish Ghetto. This ancient neighborhood has protected Roman gastronomic traditions for thousands of years. Meet your guide and get to know the other hungry tour-goers before you set off.

Antico Quartiere Ebraico

Remember, Italians eat according to what's in season, and this is a great chance to understand the culinary culture. For example, artichokes, in season from November to April, make for a succulent when deep-fried 'alla giudia'.

Fontana delle Tartarughe

Sample real Italian dried ham, or 'prosciutto', and famous 'pecorino' cheese made from sheep's milk on a 'tagliere' with red or white wine to make your palate sing to the seasons.

Campo de' Fiori

Delight the senses sampling the best “supplì” (fried rice croquettes filled with mozzarella) in town. You'll also try pizza 'rossa' and 'margherita' with some Italian craft beer for a match made in heaven.

Fontana del Monte di Pieta

Indulge in a jewel of a pastry shop's time-honored recipes for delicious Sicilian treats. Ingredients include ricotta that arrives directly from Sicily. You'll sample the “cannolo siciliano” (rolls of fried Italian pastry dough filled with a creamy ricotta filling).

Ponte Sisto

(Pass by)

The grand finale of this evening food tour takes place in Trastevere. As you cross the Tiber on the Ponte Sisto you'll be able to take in incredible views of St. Peter's and the city as you contemplate the myriad flavors you've experienced so far.

Piazza Trilussa

Enjoy a sit-down pasta dinner at an authentic Roman 'enoteca'. You’ll get the opportunity to savor the city’s most beloved pasta dishes like “Amatriciana” (guanciale and tomatoes), and “Cacio e Pepe” (Pecorino cheese and black pepper) accompanied by delicious local wine.

Trastevere

(Pass by)

Finish your foodie adventure by indulging in a true Italian sweet treat – gelato! Whether you are fruit fan or a decadent chocolate lover, we’re sure you’ll agree that our favorite ‘gelateria’ serves up the best scoops in town.

Had an amazing experience with Andrei. He was super nice, knowledgable and funny. Loved the experience and had a really good time. He also was very accommodating for my girlfriend who was dizzy and helped her.

Laurel_H

The food was delicious and Andrea kept us moving and awake even though we arrived just a few hours before from US. Fun way to start the trip!

Larisawilliams

This was such a delightful experience for two Americans who had never traveled to Rome. Our guide was so kind, and the food/restaurant selections she chose were a perfect sampling.

One of the best tours we went on. Andrea was an amazing tour guide. He kept my entire family entertained and it was very interesting. I would highly recommend going on this food experience tour. A little history, taste testing different foods, had a nice dinner at a really cool restaurant and topped it off with the best gelatos in Rome.

One of us had a nut allergy and we were very well taken care of. We felt safe and knew exactly what was OK to eat and what we should not eat. All of the food was delicious. We loved the cheese and meat platter. The pizza from the bakery was the best pizza we had the whole trip. The pastas were amazing but the restaurant was even cooler. We ended with gelato which again was the best we had our whole trip. Highly highly recommend! Andre was wonderful! We had to teenagers and he was great with them.

We were so looking forward to both our What a Life tours in Rome but due to the Covid 19 effect, we have chosen to postpone our visit to a future date as well as our prepaid tours! What a Life tours have been fantastic in advising us to take either a voucher for 100% of the prepaid fees good for 2 years or a 90% refund...their prompt and efficient service guarantees that we will look forward to both these tours again! Thank you WALT!

My wife and I booked this tour as a way to orient ourselves to the food scene in Rome, and are so glad we did. We ended up being the only ones who had signed up for our time slot, and spent our evening dining and drinking with Marta! She was an excellent guide, with great knowledge both of the history of culinary tradition, and where great finds were! She helped us visualize the whole city at different times in history, and above all was great company. We were joking with her the whole time, and this was a lovely start to our trip to Rome!

My husband and I booked this four hour food tour our first night in Rome and it was well worth it. All of the food was absolutely amazing and the tour guide specifically focused on the local food as the subject of the tour versus history of the area. That being said, it also gives you a chance to get grounded on your surroundings in central Rome. I believe the tour guide's name was Andrea - he was very knowledgeable and fun to hang out with for a few hours! He also gave us recommendations for the rest of our time in Rome. I highly recommend!

jhnaumann

We had an excellent evening with jasmine. Group size of 7 was nice. Restaurant locations and specialties were spread out enough to get a flavor for different areas. Would highly recommend. Fun and engaging.

Patricia H

The three of us took this tour with Jasmine as our guide. There were a total of 7 of us in this tour. Great group of friendly people. Jasmine was a wonderful host informing us on the history of the neighborhoods and the regional foods. It was a great variety of foods and drinks. Abundant and delicious! Jasmine is the best and her knowledge of Rome's food and drink is amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour with her and highly recommend this to everyone.
