Your Itinerary

Casa di Giulietta

Actually belonged to the Veronese family Capuleti (even though the correct spelling would be Cappelletti), mentioned by Shakespeare in his most famous tragedy, this mansion went under a deep refitting during the first half of the 20th century. This was meant to bring it back to a possible Renaissance style, since the palace appearance at the end of 19t century was completely different, more similar to a balcony house. Today, the interiors host a collection of antique engravings, pieces of furniture and costumes used in the movie by Franco Zeffirelli. In the courtyard, you can admire the magnificent bronze statue of Juliet by Nereo Costantini that has become the symbol of Verona.

Arche Scaligere

(Pass by)

This remarkable complex, dating back to the 14th century, hosts the monumental tombs of the family Della Scala, which ruled the city of Verona at that time. The tombs were built in a mature gothic style which shows the first impressions of the Renaissance.

Romeo's House (Casa di Romeo)

(Pass by)

The building, which may have belonged to the Montecchi family, stands close by the Arche Scaligere. It occupies three sides of a typical medieval inner court, with the fourth side being hidden from the street by a tall embattled wall. The mansion can not be visited, since it is now a private property.

Tomba di Giulietta

The grave, which owes its current appearance to a 1937 restoring, is said to host the mortal remains of Giulietta Capuleti, the well known protagonist of Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet". It stands into the former monastery of Capuchin friars, dating back to the 13th century.
