Best Rome Travel

Our driver was amazing! He organized a few great stops and arranged some great winery visits! He also had great suggestions for lunch.

We had an amazing experience. Our driver was fun, he was laid back and did a great job at making sure we had reservations for lunch in Positano. We enjoyed all 3 locations. Ravello was a quaint little town and wish we could have stayed longer. Amalfi was filled with all kinds of shops and the best lemon sorbet I have ever had. Our last stop was Positano, and the views are just incredible and also filled with lots of shops and restaurants. Having a private chauffeur is the way to go! The roads are very windy and stop and go, if you get car sick, I recommend taking something before the trip. We will be back, and would recommend this excursion to anyone.

early start taking in Pompeii and Vesuvius. Max, Our driver spoke great english arrived at our hotel on time and was very accommodating. his car was a large Mercedes “van” and was very clean. Arrival at Pompeii was just over a couple of hours and Max pointed out some interesting sights and landmarks on the way down. This package allowed us to jump a huge queue even at 9.15am! Our guide again spoken great english and was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour over 3 hours, but be warned even that is not enough time. Max then took us to pleasant good value restaurant overlooking the Bay of Naples on the way up to the too of Mt Vesuvius. After lunch he took us to the highest staging point for the public allowing us a 30 minute walk to the summit. Again be warned when they say its 300m they mean 300m vertical, its about a mile or so and is quite steep but achievable and several smaller children made the walk. Return to Rome was just after 5.15. all told a great team to do this tour with. j

guide did not speak English and functioned only as a driver, not as a tour guide. Disappointing but the drive itself was not bad, it’s a good way to see a lot in one day.

Our fabulous tour guide brought the ruins to life -- everything from brothels, to ancient Roman fast food, to private residences, to how Pompeii fit into the grand scheme of things as part of the Roman Empire. I left there amazed by all I had seen and by my ability now to visualize what daily life was like there. I highly recommend it!

The reason we selected to drive from Rome to Pompeii was because we thought we would have a driver who wiped talk to us along the way. Our driver was silent even putting in ear buds. She had no desire to talk to us whatsoever, it would’ve been better to take the train to Naples as that is a quick one hour trip. Instead, we took the car which was much longer and boring. Our tour guide in Pompeii was fabulous!
