Moss Rock Preserve: Hoover's Natural Gem

Moss Rock Preserve, a sprawling 349-acre natural oasis in the heart of Hoover, Alabama, provides a remarkable escape into a world of natural beauty and geological wonder. Rediscovered in the 1960s, the preserve became a popular destination for rock climbers and boulderers. In the early 2000s, encroaching housing developments threatened the area, but local climbers and advocacy groups played a crucial role in saving the preserve and establishing it as a protected area.
