If you are traveling by car, start your journey in Armidale, which is a central hub in New England. Head south on the New England Highway (A15) for approximately 20 kilometers. Turn left onto Waterfall Way (B78) and continue for around 30 kilometers. Look for the signs directing you to Wollomombi Falls Picnic Area. The picnic area is located on Wollomombi Falls Road, just a short distance off the main road. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for the unsealed roads in the area, as some parts may be rough. There are no entry fees to access the picnic area.
Public Transportation + Walking
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Armidale to Hillgrove. Check the local bus schedules to find the best route, as services may vary. Once you arrive in Hillgrove, it is approximately a 5-kilometer walk to Wollomombi Falls Picnic Area. Follow Wollomombi Falls Road, which will lead you directly to the picnic area. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes and carry water, as the walk can take about an hour depending on your pace. Note that public transportation schedules may not run frequently, so plan your return trip accordingly.
