Breathtaking Vistas at Apex Lookout, Mount Gambier

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Mount Gambier. From the center of Mount Gambier, take Commercial Street towards the south. Turn left onto Penola Road (B100) and continue for about 1.8 kilometers. Then, turn right onto John Watson Drive. Follow the signs for Apex Lookout, which will be located along this road. There is free parking available at the lookout.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Mount Gambier's main bus terminal. Bus routes that service the area may vary, so check with local services for the latest schedules. You will need to get off at a stop close to John Watson Drive, then it is a short walk (about 1 kilometer) to the lookout. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and check the local bus service for the fare prices.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Mount Gambier and prefer to walk, you can make your way to Apex Lookout. Starting from the city center, walk south on Commercial Street, then take Penola Road (B100) until you reach John Watson Drive. From there, follow the road to Apex Lookout. The walk is approximately 3 kilometers one way, so be prepared for a bit of exercise!

• Bicycle

  Cycling to Apex Lookout is also a great option. If you have a bicycle, you can follow the same route as cars. Head south on Commercial Street, then onto Penola Road (B100), and finally turn onto John Watson Drive. The ride is scenic, but be aware of traffic, especially on Penola Road. There are bike racks available at the lookout.
