    From Sarajevo, take the M5 towards Kiseljak and Fojnica. From Fojnica, follow the road towards Prokoško Lake, a journey of approximately 22 km, mostly on a gravel road. Be prepared for a bumpy ride, and consider using an off-road vehicle or renting a quad in Fojnica. Parking is available near the lake. Note that an entrance fee of 10 KM per car and 2 KM per person may apply.

    Take a bus from Sarajevo to Fojnica. From Fojnica, local transport options to Prokoško Lake are limited. You may need to arrange a taxi or hire a local tour. Prokoško Lake, often called the 'Mountain Eye,' is a serene glacial lake located 22 kilometers from Fojnica, high in the Vranica Mountain range. Situated at 1,670 meters above sea level, the lake is renowned for its unspoiled beauty, crystal-clear waters, and the traditional wooden shepherd huts ('Katuni') that dot its banks. These huts, used by shepherds during the warmer months, add to the lake's unique charm, offering visitors a glimpse into Bosnia's nomadic village life. The lake itself was formed by glacial activity, and is fed by mountain springs and rainfall. It stretches 426 meters long and 191 meters wide, reaching a maximum depth of 13 meters. The surrounding area is rich in flora and fauna, including the endemic Alpine newt (Triturus alpestris reiseri), found only in this region. Hiking trails around the lake offer breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including Nadkrstac, the highest peak of Vranica Mountain at 2,112 meters.
