Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Tiburon Ferry Terminal, the museum is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk along the waterfront. Head north on Main Street, then turn left onto Paradise Drive. The museum will be on your left in Shoreline Park, with views of the bay.

  • Public Transport

    If arriving by bus via Golden Gate Transit, disembark at the Tiburon Boulevard and Main Street stop. From there, walk north on Main Street and turn left onto Paradise Drive. The museum will be on your left in Shoreline Park, about a 10-15 minute walk. Bus fare is approximately $3-$6.

  • Ferry

    From San Francisco, take the Golden Gate Ferry to Tiburon. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes and offers scenic views of the bay. Upon arrival at the Tiburon Ferry Terminal, the museum is a 10-15 minute walk north on Main Street, then left onto Paradise Drive. As of July 2025, a one-way ticket is $14.00, or $8.00 with a Clipper Card.

The Tiburon Railroad & Ferry Depot Museum, located at 1920 Paradise Drive, offers a captivating glimpse into the Bay Area's transportation past. Housed in the historic 1886 San Francisco and North Pacific Railroad Station House, the museum stands as a testament to Tiburon's vital role as a transportation hub. Inside, visitors can explore exhibits that bring Tiburon's railroad and maritime history to life. A highlight is the detailed operating HO-scale model of the Point Tiburon yard, depicting the trains, ferry slips, and Main Street as they appeared circa 1900-1910. The museum also features original artifacts, including railroad equipment, old photographs, and ferry memorabilia. Upstairs, the Depot House Museum recreates the stationmaster's residence, showcasing middle-class home life in the early 1900s. The restoration was based on the memories of Florence Bent Palmer, daughter of stationmaster William Bent, who lived there from 1913 to 1940. Her contributions ensured an accurate depiction of her childhood home, including donated furniture and other treasures. The museum is located in Shoreline Park, offering views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Angel Island. The lovingly restored Carpenter Gothic building is a landmark in Tiburon, providing an enriching experience for visitors of all ages.
