Walking

The Temple of Venus is located within the Pompeii Archaeological Park. Enter the park through one of the main entrances (Porta Marina, Piazza Esedra, or Piazza Anfiteatro). From the Porta Marina entrance, walk along Via Marina towards the Forum. The temple complex will be on your right, offering views of the Gulf of Naples. From the Forum, head towards the Temple of Apollo; the Temple of Venus will be on your left, situated on a raised platform. Park entry tickets are required; a standard adult ticket costs €18. Audio guides are available for rent at the Porta Marina entrance for an additional fee.
Public Transport

From Naples or Sorrento, take the Circumvesuviana train to the Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri station. This station is closest to the Porta Marina entrance. From the station, it's a short walk to the entrance of the Pompeii Archaeological Park. Follow the signs to the Porta Marina entrance and then proceed on foot to the Temple of Venus. A single train ticket costs approximately €3.50. Park entry tickets are required; a standard adult ticket costs €18.
Car

Drive to Pompeii via the A3 Napoli-Salerno motorway and take the 'Pompeii Scavi' exit. Follow the signs to the archaeological site. Parking is available near the entrances for a fee of €10 per day. The temple's strategic location, overlooking the Gulf of Naples, made it a prominent symbol of the city's identity and a welcoming sight for seafarers.Initially, another temple in Pompeii was dedicated to Venus Physica, possibly linked to the Greek Aphrodite or Phoenician Astarte. However, the Temple of Venus eventually became the city's principal place of worship for the goddess, hosting numerous ceremonies and public festivities that strengthened the community's spirit. The temple hosted rituals dedicated to fertility, love, and prosperity, fundamental elements of a thriving city like Pompeii. It may have also served a political role, acting as a meeting place for citizens and prominent societal figures, including priests.Though largely ruined today, the Temple of Venus was once an architectural marvel, constructed with strict Roman guidelines.
