Getting There

Car
If you're driving from Aosta, take the A5 motorway towards Courmayeur. After about 80 km, exit at Courmayeur and follow signs for the Mont Blanc Tunnel (Tunnel du Mont-Blanc) towards Chamonix. Once you exit the tunnel into France, continue following signs for Chamonix and then for Zermatt via the A40 and A41. Note that you cannot drive directly into Zermatt, as it is a car-free village. You will need to park at the nearby town of Täsch (there are several parking lots available) and then take a train from Täsch to Zermatt, which takes about 12 minutes. Train tickets cost approximately €8 one way.

Public Transportation
From Aosta, you can take a train to Châtillon, where you will transfer to a train heading to Zermatt. Trains run frequently, but be sure to check the current timetable. The journey takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, including transfer time. Once in Zermatt, you will need to walk or use local transport to reach the Matterhorn Viewpoint. The viewpoint is easily accessible from the center of Zermatt, typically within a 20-30 minute walk, or you can take a local shuttle bus.

Walking
Once you arrive in Zermatt, head towards the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car station. Follow the signs for 'Gornergrat' and 'Matterhorn Glacier Paradise.' The walk is scenic, and you will pass through charming streets with shops and eateries. If you prefer a more direct route, you can take the Gornergrat Railway from Zermatt to the viewpoint station, which provides stunning views along the way. Tickets for the Gornergrat Railway cost around €90 for a round trip.
