Getting There

  • Bus

    From Nara Park, head to the Nara Kotsu Bus Terminal. Take bus number 70 towards Kyoto Station. Alight at the 'Shugakuin Kaikonbocho' stop. From the bus stop, walk approximately 10 minutes north along Shugakuin Kaikonbocho Street until you reach Sekizan-zen-in Temple, which will be on your right.

  • Train and Bus

    From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kyoto Station. At Kyoto Station, transfer to the JR Sagano Line and get off at the 'Nanzenji' station. From there, take bus number 203 towards 'Shugakuin Kaikonbocho' and alight at the 'Shugakuin Kaikonbocho' stop. Walk north along Shugakuin Kaikonbocho Street for about 10 minutes to reach Sekizan-zen-in Temple.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Nara National Museum, you can walk to Sekizan-zen-in Temple, which is approximately 45 minutes away. Head northeast on Sanjo-dori, cross the bridge over the Yoshiki River, and continue onto Shugakuin Kaikonbocho Street. Follow the road north until you reach the temple on your right.
