If you are coming from Sendai, take the Tohoku Expressway and then transfer to the Iwate Expressway at the Morioka Junction. Follow the signs for Tōno City and take Route 4 towards Tōno. Once you enter the city, look for Chuodori Street where the Tono Castle Shitamachi Museum is located at 4-6 Chuodori. Ensure you have a navigation system or a map app to guide you, as the roads can be winding. There is parking available near the museum, but it may incur a small fee, usually around 300 yen for a few hours.

To reach Tono Castle Shitamachi Museum via public transportation, first, take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen from cities like Sendai or Morioka to the Morioka Station. From Morioka Station, transfer to the JR Kamaishi Line and take a train towards Tōno Station. The train ride will take about 40-50 minutes.
