Train

For those using public transportation, take the Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo or Sendai to Morioka Station. From Morioka Station, transfer to the Sanriku Railway and take the train to Tōno Station. The train ride takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Tōno Station, it is approximately a 10-minute walk to Tono City Museum. Head southwest on Route 283, then turn left onto Higashidatecho. The museum will be on your right at 3-9 Higashidatecho.
Bus

If you're interested in taking a bus, from Morioka Station, you can catch a local bus heading to Tōno City. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and costs around 1,000 yen.
