From Kuldiga Town Square (Pilsētas laukums), head south on Jelgavas iela towards Rumba parish. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until the junction with Rumbas iela. Turn left onto Rumbas iela and follow it for approximately 500 meters. The Jewish Victim Memorial Site will be on your right side near the intersection with Rumba iela. Walking from the town square will take approximately 20-30 minutes.

From any central location in Kuldiga, walk to the nearest bus stop. Take a local bus heading towards Rumba parish. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to the Jewish Victim Memorial Site. After disembarking, walk about 300 meters along Rumbas iela; the memorial will be on your right. The Jewish Victim Memorial Site in Kuldiga, located in Rumba Parish, serves as a poignant tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. In July 1941, Nazi troops and local collaborators carried out mass murders of the Jewish population of Kuldiga in various locations within Rumba Parish. Four known sites were used for these atrocities, though the exact number of victims remains unknown.During the Soviet period, a wooden memorial plaque was erected at one of the murder sites, approximately 7 km from Kuldiga. However, the inscription became illegible over time. In 2006, the Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia erected a black granite monument next to the plaque. The inscription in Latvian reads: “Here in July 1941 fascists murdered and buried the Jews of Kuldīga”.The memorial site invites visitors to contemplate the historical context of the Jewish community in Latvia and the horrors they faced during World War II. It serves as a place for remembrance, reflection, and education, encouraging visitors to consider the importance of preventing future atrocities. The peaceful surroundings offer a space for quiet contemplation and a deeper understanding of the past.
