From Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, take the Main Entrance Road to the intersection with MD-16. Turn left onto MD-16 and continue for about 10 miles. After passing through the town of Vienna, stay on MD-16 until you reach the intersection with MD-363. Turn right onto MD-363 and continue for 2.5 miles. Follow the signs for Deal Island State Wildlife Management Area, which will lead you to Dames Quarter, MD 21821. The entrance will be on your left.

Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. If you're starting from Cambridge, MD, take the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus to the nearest stop in Vienna. From there, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining 5 miles to Deal Island State Wildlife Management Area, as public transit does not provide direct service to this location.

If you are feeling adventurous and wish to bike to Deal Island State Wildlife Management Area, from Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, head north on MD-16. This route is approximately 12 miles long and follows state roads that can be busy, so exercise caution. Make sure to wear a helmet and have appropriate safety gear.
