Nau-Talle Durbar: A Marvel of Nepali Architecture

Getting There

• Car

  To reach Nau-Talle Durbar (Basantapur durbar) from Gosaikunda by car, start your journey heading south on the road leading from Gosaikunda. Continue on the road for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the junction at Dhunche. Here, you will merge onto the Prithvi Highway. Follow the highway for about 70 kilometers, passing through beautiful landscapes and small villages. After reaching Kathmandu, follow the signs to Basantapur Durbar Square. Upon entering the area, look for parking options around Basantapur where you can leave your car and walk to Nau-Talle Durbar, which is located in the heart of the square.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Gosaikunda, you can take a local bus to Dhunche. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour. Once in Dhunche, transfer to a bus heading to Kathmandu. This second leg of the journey usually takes around 3 to 4 hours, depending on the road conditions. After arriving in Kathmandu, disembark at the bus stop for Ratna Park. From Ratna Park, you can either take a short taxi ride or walk to Basantapur Durbar Square, which is about a 15-minute walk. Nau-Talle Durbar is located within the square, making it easily accessible.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Gosaikunda to Nau-Talle Durbar. The taxi will take you directly to Basantapur Durbar Square. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting the journey, as it can vary. The drive will take approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic conditions in Kathmandu. Once you arrive at Basantapur Durbar Square, the Nau-Talle Durbar is located within the square, which you can explore on foot.
