From Yonkers, head to the Yonkers Metro-North station. Take a southbound train on the Hudson Line towards Grand Central Terminal. Disembark at Grand Central Terminal. Once at Grand Central, follow the signs to the 42nd Street Shuttle towards Times Square. At Times Square, transfer to the 7 train heading towards Flushing. Get off at 28th Street Station. From the station, walk east on 28th Street for about 5 minutes until you reach 140 E 28th St.

From the Yonkers Public Library, take the Bee-Line Bus #1 heading towards the Bronx. Get off at the stop at 42nd St. and 3rd Ave. Transfer to the MTA bus M34A-SBS towards 1st Ave. Get off at the stop at 28th St. and 1st Ave. Walk west on 28th Street for a couple of blocks until you reach 140 E 28th St.

If you're near the Yonkers waterfront, you can enjoy a scenic walk. Head east on Warburton Ave. until you reach the Yonkers Metro-North station. From there, take the train to Grand Central Terminal as described above. Alternatively, you can walk to the nearest Bee-Line bus stop to take a bus towards downtown Manhattan.
