If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest town, Motueka, and head northwest on State Highway 60. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with Takaka Hill Highway (State Highway 60). Turn right onto Takaka Hill Highway and drive for about 15 kilometers. You will see signs for Hawkes Lookout Walk on your left. There is a small parking area near the trailhead where you can leave your car.

If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Nelson to Takaka. The buses operated by the Nelson Tasman Connection run regularly, and the journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Takaka, you can either take a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to take you to the Hawkes Lookout Walk trailhead, which is approximately 15 kilometers away from the town center. Please check local services for availability and costs, as prices may vary.
