Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Devonport Ferry Terminal, exit the terminal and head onto Victoria Road. Walk along Victoria Road for about 10 minutes (approximately 800 meters). You'll pass various shops and cafés. Continue until you reach the intersection with Takarunga Road. Turn left onto Takarunga Road and walk for about 5 minutes (approximately 400 meters). The entrance to Maungauika / North Head Historic Reserve will be on your right at 18 Takarunga Road.

  • Public Transport (Bus)

    From the Devonport Ferry Terminal, walk to the nearest bus stop located on Victoria Road. Board the bus for route 804 towards Takapuna. You will need to pay for your bus fare, which costs around NZD $2.00 to $3.50 depending on the distance. Alight at the stop 'Takarunga Road - Devonport' after about 5 minutes. From the bus stop, walk a short distance up Takarunga Road (about 5 minutes or 400 meters) to reach the entrance of Maungauika / North Head Historic Reserve at 18 Takarunga Road.

  • Cycling

    If you have access to a bicycle, you can cycle from the Devonport Ferry Terminal. Head out of the terminal and turn onto Victoria Road. Continue cycling for about 10 minutes (approximately 800 meters). At the intersection with Takarunga Road, turn left and cycle for another 5 minutes (approximately 400 meters) until you reach the entrance to Maungauika / North Head Historic Reserve at 18 Takarunga Road. Note that wearing a helmet is required by law.
