From Christchurch, head to the main bus station located at 161 Lichfield Street. You can take the Metro bus route 28 towards 'The River' which runs regularly. Make sure to check the latest timetable. Stay on the bus for approximately 45 minutes until you reach the 'Waimakariri Gorge' stop. Once you disembark, follow the signs towards the Waimakariri Gorge Bridge View Front, which is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. Follow the path along the river until you reach the viewing area.

If you're comfortable biking, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Christchurch. Start from the city center and make your way to the Waimakariri Gorge via the cycle paths. The ride should take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow the scenic routes along the river and be cautious of traffic when necessary. Once you reach the Waimakariri Gorge area, follow local signs to the Bridge View Front.

Hiking/Walking
For an adventurous option, consider hiking from Christchurch to Waimakariri Gorge. Start at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and follow the river trail that leads out of the city. This is a longer journey, approximately 20-25 kilometers, and will take about 5-6 hours of walking. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. Once you reach the gorge, follow the path leading to the Bridge View Front.
