From Masterton, head to the Masterton Bus Terminal located at 27 Chapel Street. Look for the services that head towards Palmerston North or Wellington. Board the bus that stops at the Mount Bruce area. The journey usually takes around 30-40 minutes. Once you get off the bus, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre. Head east on State Highway 2 until you see the entrance to Pūkaha on your left.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in Masterton. Start from the town center and follow the signs leading to State Highway 2. The ride is about 13 kilometers and will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Take care while cycling as you will be on a state highway. Follow State Highway 2 northbound until you reach Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, which will be on your left.

Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, it is approximately a 13-kilometer walk from Masterton to Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre. Start from the Masterton town center and head northwest towards State Highway 2. Once you reach State Highway 2, turn left and continue straight for about 13 kilometers. It will take around 2.5 to 3 hours to walk there, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
