If you are starting from the central area of James River Valley, head south on ND-281 S for approximately 20 miles. Continue on ND-281 S until you reach the intersection with SD-37 S. Turn left onto SD-37 S and drive for about 7 miles. You will pass through the town of Hecla, SD. The James River is located just on the border of North Dakota and South Dakota, near Hecla. Look for signs to the river or use navigation apps to guide you to the exact location at Hecla, SD 57446.
