If you are traveling by car within the Lower Susquehanna Valley, follow these directions to Lacawac Sanctuary: Begin by getting onto I-81 N from your location. Continue on I-81 N for approximately 15 miles. Take exit 187 for PA-590 toward Hamlin. Turn left onto PA-590 W and follow it for about 10 miles. Turn right onto Sanctuary Road, and continue for about 1 mile until you reach the Lacawac Sanctuary Field Station and Environmental Education Center at 94 Sanctuary Rd, Lake Ariel, PA 18436. There is ample parking available on-site.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from your starting location to Scranton or Honesdale, depending on your proximity. From Scranton, you can take the Lackawanna County Transit bus (Route 72) to Hamlin. Upon arriving in Hamlin, you'll need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Lacawac Sanctuary, as there is no direct public transport to the sanctuary itself. Alternatively, if starting from Honesdale, take the bus to Hamlin and then a taxi from there.

Bicycle
For those who are adventurous and wish to bike to Lacawac Sanctuary, start on the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. Follow the trail north until you reach the intersection with PA-590. From there, you will need to navigate to PA-590 W and then turn onto Sanctuary Road. The total biking distance is around 20 miles, so be prepared for a long ride and ensure you have water and snacks for the journey.

Walking to Lacawac Sanctuary is not recommended from distant locations due to the rural nature of the area and the lack of pedestrian paths. If you are staying nearby, you could walk along local roads, but ensure you are familiar with the area and it is safe to do so. Sanctuary Road is primarily rural and may not have sidewalks, so caution is advised.
