Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Chaves city center, ideally from Praça de Camoes. Head southwest towards Rua do Comércio and continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Av. 5 de Outubro. Continue walking straight, passing by several shops and cafes. After about 1 km, you will reach the end of the avenue. Turn right onto EM507. Follow this road for approximately 5 km, enjoying the scenic views along the way. You will see signs for 'Baloiço São Caetano' leading you to the parking area. The viewpoint is located a short walk from the parking area.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Chaves. Start from the city center and follow the same route as walking: head to Av. 5 de Outubro, then onto EM507. The ride is approximately 5 km, and the path is relatively flat, making it suitable for cyclists. Be cautious of any traffic as you approach the viewpoint. Once you reach the parking area for Baloiço São Caetano, lock your bike and take a short walk to the viewpoint.

• Public Transport

  While public transport options directly to Miradouro dos Contrabandistas - Baloiço São Caetano may be limited, you can take a bus from Chaves to Montalegre. Check the bus schedule at the local bus station. Once you arrive in Montalegre, you can either walk or take a taxi to reach the viewpoint, which is approximately 10 km away. If you choose to walk, head southeast on the road towards EM507, and follow the directions as previously mentioned for walking.
