If you are traveling by car within Yunque National Forest, head towards the PR-191 road which is the main road through the forest. Follow the signs for 'El Yunque'. Continue along PR-191 until you reach the junction with PR-970. Turn left onto PR-970 and follow this road until you reach the intersection with PR-971. Turn right onto PR-971. Continue driving for approximately 10 km. Charco Frío will be on your left side. Look for parking areas along the road, but be mindful of local regulations.

Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from San Juan to Ceiba. The bus terminal for this route is located in San Juan, and the buses are operated by the Puerto Rico Metropolitan Bus Authority. Once you arrive at Ceiba, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to reach Charco Frío. Inform the driver to take you to KM 10.0 on PR-971. It's about a 15-minute ride from the Ceiba bus terminal. Be sure to check the bus schedule for the latest departure times and plan accordingly.

If you are already in Yunque National Forest and looking for an adventurous option, you can hike to Charco Frío. From the main visitor center, follow the designated hiking trails leading towards the river. The hike is moderately challenging, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water. Once you reach the river, follow it downstream until you reach Charco Frío. This option allows you to enjoy the lush surroundings and might take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
