If you are driving from Aberdeen, take US-281 South for approximately 60 miles until you reach the junction with SD-34. Turn west onto SD-34 and continue for about 45 miles. When you reach Gettysburg, turn north onto W Whitlock Rd (also known as County Rd 9) and follow it for about 5 miles until you reach the entrance of West Whitlock Recreation Area at 16157 W Whitlock Rd A, Gettysburg, SD 57442.

From Watertown, head south on US-81 for about 50 miles. Then, take a left onto SD-34 West and continue for about 65 miles. Once you arrive in Gettysburg, turn north onto W Whitlock Rd and drive for 5 miles to arrive at West Whitlock Recreation Area.
