Getting There

Car
From Nuwara Eliya, head south on the A7 road towards the town of Welimada. After approximately 10 km, turn left onto the Ohiya Road (B450) towards Horton Plains National Park. Continue on this road for about 12 km until you reach the entrance of Horton Plains National Park. Please note that there is an entrance fee of around LKR 2,500 per person. Once inside the park, follow the marked trails to enjoy the breathtaking views and natural beauty.

Public Transportation (Bus)
From Nuwara Eliya, take a local bus from the main bus station heading towards Welimada. The fare is usually around LKR 50. After about 30 minutes, get off at the Ohiya junction. From there, you can catch a tuk-tuk or walk (approximately 5 km) to the entrance of Horton Plains National Park. Expect to pay around LKR 200-300 for the tuk-tuk ride. Remember to pay the entrance fee of about LKR 2,500 at the park.

If you're already in Nuwara Eliya and prefer a more direct route, hire a tuk-tuk to take you to Horton Plains. The ride should cost between LKR 1,500 to LKR 2,000 depending on your negotiation skills. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Be sure to arrange for the tuk-tuk driver to wait for you as public transport back may not be frequent.
