Breathtaking Views at Mae Kuang Dam Viewpoint

Getting There

• Car

  From Chiang Mai city center, take Route 118 (Chiang Mai - Doi Saket Road) heading east. Drive for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Route 1014. Turn left onto Route 1014 and continue for about 5 kilometers. Look for signs for Mae Kuang Dam Viewpoint, which will be on your right. The viewpoint is located at W4HH+948, Luang Nuea, Doi Saket District. Parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  From Chiang Mai, head to the Arcade Bus Station or Chang Puak Bus Station and take a local bus or songthaew (red truck) heading towards Doi Saket. Make sure to tell the driver you want to go to Mae Kuang Dam. Once you arrive at Doi Saket, it's about a 15-minute walk to the viewpoint or you can hire a local taxi or songthaew for a short ride. Expect to pay around 50-100 THB for the taxi or songthaew ride.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Chiang Mai. Head east on Route 118, which is approximately 15 kilometers to Doi Saket. Then take Route 1014 for another 5 kilometers. The ride is scenic, but be prepared for a moderate workout. Make sure to wear a helmet, bring plenty of water, and follow traffic rules. Allow for 2-3 hours for this journey, depending on your cycling speed.
