Getting There

  • Train

    From the center of Tunis, head to the Tunis Marine train station (Gare de Tunis Marine). You can take a taxi or walk, as it is about a 15-minute walk from the downtown area. Once at the station, purchase a ticket for the suburban train (TGV) heading towards La Marsa. The train departs frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. Ride the train for about 20 minutes and disembark at the Carthage - Byrsa station.

  • Walking

    After arriving at the Carthage - Byrsa station, exit the station and head towards the main road (Avenue de la République). Turn right and walk straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Avenue Habib Bourguiba. Turn left onto Avenue Habib Bourguiba, and continue walking straight until you reach the Port of Sidi Bou Said, which will be on your right. The walk should take around 15-20 minutes.

  • Public Bus

    From the center of Tunis, you can take bus number 34 from the bus stop near the Tunis Marine train station. The bus will take you directly towards Sidi Bou Said. Make sure to ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop for the Port of Sidi Bou Said. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

  • Tunis City Tram

    Another option is to take the Tunis City Tram. Board the tram at any downtown station that serves the tram network. You should travel towards La Marsa and transfer at the La Marsa station to the suburban train towards Carthage. Once you get off at Carthage - Byrsa, follow the walking directions provided earlier to reach the port.
