If you are driving, head towards the Kapkwai Exploration Center located in Chebonet. From the main park entrance, follow the road signs leading to the Kapkwai area. The coordinates are approximately 1.3349875 latitude and 34.4116719 longitude. The roads may be rough and require a 4x4 vehicle, especially during rainy seasons. The journey should take about 30 minutes from the main entrance.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared minibus) from Mbale town to the Mount Elgon National Park main entrance. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you may need to hire a local boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the Kapkwai Exploration Center. Confirm the fare beforehand; it is typically around 10,000 to 20,000 Ugandan Shillings, depending on your negotiation skills and the distance. The boda boda ride should take approximately 20 minutes.

If you are already within the Mount Elgon National Park and prefer to walk, follow the marked trails leading to the Kapkwai Exploration Center. The walking paths are well-maintained, but be sure to carry water and wear comfortable shoes. Depending on your starting point within the park, it could take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to reach the center on foot.
