If you're driving from downtown Milwaukee, head south on S 1st St toward W Washington St. Turn left onto W Washington St, then continue onto I-43 S. Take exit 74A for I-94 E toward Chicago. Merge onto I-94 E and continue for about 3 miles. Take exit 310B for S 27th St. Keep right at the fork, following signs for S 27th St, and merge onto S 27th St. Turn right onto W National Ave, then left onto S Washington Dr. The National Soldiers Home will be on your right. Parking is available near the marker.

To reach the National Soldiers Home via public transport, start by taking the Milwaukee County Transit System bus route 76 from downtown Milwaukee. Board the bus at a stop near you (check the MCTS website for exact locations and schedules). Ride the bus towards S 27th St & National Ave. Once you arrive at the stop, walk south on S 27th St and turn left onto W National Ave, then left onto S Washington Dr. The historical marker will be on your right. Be sure to check bus fares on the MCTS website as they vary.

For those preferring to bike, start at the Milwaukee Riverwalk and head south on the trail, following the signs towards the Hank Aaron State Trail. This will lead you towards S 27th St. Continue along the trail until you reach W National Ave. Turn left and proceed to S Washington Dr. The marker is located on your right.
