Dublin in a Day: Book of Kells, Guinness, Distillery & Castle

We'll begin our dating meeting at the Molly Malone statue. Your guide will share the story of this curious character before entering the grounds of the historic Trinity College.

The iconic Trinity College Dublin is steeped in history and culture. Founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1592, it is the oldest university in Ireland and one of the oldest in Europe. Trinity College attracts students from all over the world who come to study in its prestigious and renowned academic environment. The campus is home to a wealth of landmarks, including the iconic Campanile bell tower, bustling college lawns, beautiful cobbled streets and historic buildings.

The Book of Kells is a breathtaking illuminated manuscript from the 9th century AD, featuring complex artwork and intricate Celtic knotwork. It contains four gospels written in Latin, along with various other texts and artworks. The book is decorated with vibrant colors such as purple, green and yellow, all derived from natural elements like plants, insects, and minerals. The intricate knotwork featured in the book is impressive, with interlaced figures forming images of animals, mythical creatures, and abstract shapes. The Book of Kells is truly a marvel to behold and has been rightly hailed as one of the greatest works of art from medieval times.

As you explore Dublin's historic city center, you'll pass by the Ha'Penny Bridge and River Liffey.

As we make our way from Trinity College to Dublin Castle, we'll walk through the iconic Temple Bar area of Dublin.

We will visit the grounds of Dublin Castle, a magnificent landmark in the heart of Dublin's historic city centre. Brimming with a stunning array of architecture and lush gardens, this medieval fortress offers a unique experience for all visitors. Built in 1204 on the orders of King John, it served as the seat of English rule in Ireland for centuries, providing an insight into Ireland's tumultuous history. Over the years, Dublin Castle has also been home to several important state events and receptions, including visits from monarchs and presidents.

St. Patrick's Cathedral is a breathtakingly beautiful building located in the heart of Dublin, Ireland. Standing impressively tall and built primarily from limestone, it is one of Dublin's most iconic monuments. Dating back to 1191, St. Patrick’s has survived centuries of change to become one of the city’s biggest attractions. We will stop for a break for lunch in The Liberties neighbourhood in Dublin before heading to the Teeling Whiskey Distillery.
