Casa Ritual

We recently stayed at this small boutique hotel in Marina Vallarta, drawn in by its beautiful building and authentic Mexican design. The hotel has a lot of charm, with lush greenery surrounding the property and a peaceful, safe neighborhood that made for a pleasant stay. The staff provided excellent service, and communication was smooth from booking to departure. The food was excellent, and we appreciated the option of on-site laundry service upon request. We felt completely safe during our stay. However, while the aesthetic of the hotel is lovely, the comfort and functionality leave much to be desired. The rooms lack furniture or hooks for clothing, and there is no lounge area beyond the pool. There was no furniture to sit in our room, on the deck, or in the common areas, making it difficult to truly relax in the evening. Large common areas are completely unfurnished (front yard and upper terrace) or set up as a store (this space would be ideal for a common lounge area). Essential amenities like a hair dryer and face cloths were missing but were provided upon request. There was not a coffee maker or bar fridge in our room which is inconvenient for longer stays. The pool area, while nice, has only six lounge chairs—insufficient for the number of guests. Similarly, the dining area is limited, with just four tables, which isn’t enough, especially at breakfast. Two beautiful large ferns take up significant space on the pool deck where more lounge chairs or dining tables could be placed. The pool itself is unheated, which some may find refreshing, but others might find too cold for comfortable use. A few other factors affected our experience. A sewer smell in the bathroom was unpleasant, and the loud pipes from a neighboring room’s shower at 6 a.m. were disruptive. The doors are not soundproof, so we could hear other guests’ voices and TV from a nearby room. The neighbor’s barking dogs added to the noise. Additionally, the hotel’s location beside the airport means that plane noise is very noticeable. Overall, this hotel has great potential but falls short in comfort and practicality. If you prioritize aesthetics, good service, and an authentic setting, it may still be a good option. However, if comfort, quiet, and relaxation are your top priorities, you may want to consider other options.

We had a lovely stay at casa ritual. Its in a very nice and quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of the marina etc. The rooms were attractive and clean and the rates were good value. Staff was very friendly and kind, we will stay there again!

The location near marina and high end neighborhood is good. The place is beautiful and greenery very lush. But I did not feel safe and will not stay there again. I was surprised the locks are flimsy and there is no chain to lock from inside. I am a woman traveling alone and did not feel safe there. I put a piece of furniture in front of the door when I went to bed. Someone could walk in the front door and go upstairs and never be seen by the front desk. Rooms are sparse but ok. The bar was sad. They had one kind of red wine, no white wine at all and Kirkland brand Prosecco that was terrible. The staff was nice but completely unapologetic . When I said I did not feel safe I was dismissed. I would not stay there again.
