Heart of Manteo Motor Lodge

NEGATIVE TEN STARS! This is the worst hotel on Roanoke Island, the staff was nowhere to be found, the room was not clean and never was cleaned, no clean towels, no staff at the front desk for check-in or check-out even in the daytime, just a locked office and a kiosk that was useless because it was unmanned. They say the hotel has been renovated but it looks like something the new owners had in Calcutta or Bombay before they came to the USA. They are one of ten hotels bought by the same people on the Outer Banks and they are all AWFUL! IF you see the VistOBX logo on the website of a hotel, RUN AWAY!!!!

Was doubled charged and told I’d get a refund that never came. Room smelled like ammonia and had mold completely covering the lamp shade. No easily reached outlets and the hairdryer was broken. The room I was in had an obnoxiously loud dehumidifier that made sleeping difficult. I would truly give this place zero stars and a health violation if I could.

ZERO STARS. If a zero was possible, I would leave a zero. Decided to stay here for 1 night since I was in town for a concert. Bad decision. Everything seemed fine when we arrived around 4:30pm. Smooth check in. Easy access to the room. Room seemed presentable for the hour we were there. We departed for our concert. Had a blast. Arrived back at the room around 11:00pm to find bugs sprinting all around the room. From the bathroom to the door. From behind mirrors and under the desk. I contacted someone at the automated computer check in since there was no one else there. They said they couldn’t help me, to contact the office the next day. I called the following day and was told to call back to speak to the manager. I called back and the same response. I called a third time and was told to email all of the situation with pictures and I would receive a response. I never received a call or email back. I finally called back 3 weeks later and spoke to someone AGAIN. This time they informed me that the manager said they would not be refunding me anything, for any reason 30 minutes after check in. They were rude and unprofessional when confronted with my issues. Zero accountability or concern for their customers. The “manager” is apparently NEVER there to return calls or emails. They know their rooms have problems and aren’t doing anything about it. Just read previous reviews. They’re scamming people, giving dirty rooms knowing they’re dirty and not giving refunds. I would NOT recommend ANYONE to stay here for ANY reason. Find a tent, it’ll turn out better. ZERO STARS.
