What a great time we had on our dog mushing adventure! My twin sister and I were treated to a very personal experience – our guide Spencer picked us up at our hotel and took us to Goldstream Husky where we met and played with the sled dogs, saw their kennels, learned how to harness them, and enjoyed an hour and a ½ tour through pristine forests and over frozen lakes. Our guides at Goldstream Husky ensured we had enough warm clothing (extra layers were added before heading out!) and provided insight into the sights we saw along the way. The scenery was breathtaking, and the dogs were enthusiastic, fit and well-cared for, and clearly loved their jobs!
Andi was so welcoming! He made us feel like family. He even informed us of an additional experience which was an event we had not planned on--watching sled dog races in Fairbanks! It was so much fun to watch! Marvin and Carrie, who were our "guides" on our ride were so helpful, even to the point of dressing us for our ride! Marvin led the way on his snow machine, and stopped periodically to take excellent photos of us on the sled. Carrie answered so many of our questions, as she was right behind us on the sled. We could not have had a better experience!!! We will never forget our time with our crew!!
Andy and Melana were fantastic hosts! The dogs are amazing animals! We had a great time learning about the dogs and the Iditarod race from Andy. Even though we brought warm clothes, Melana gave us pants, boots and coats to keep us really warm. She also said their gear was better suited for the dogs (didn't have to worry about them jumping on us with our nice winter clothes). She was absolutely right...the dogs loved jumping up on us to get some love. We got to help feed them after our run. We had a great time and would highly recommend this dog sledding tour to anyone who wants a hands on experience! Hot chocolate and apple spice cake was the perfect finishing touch!
It was super fun. Andy and his family where amazing make us feel as part of them. Definitely will do it again.
Andy, the owner is a kind and generous plus extremely professional gentleman. Extremely accommodating. He assisted when our car was trapped in snow. The sled ride was scenic and adventurous filled with laughter and joys. This is a true professional husky ride instead of the commercialized ride so do this and forget all of the others if you truly want a ride of your life time.
What a great day to take a tour on a dog sled. The weather was a little cold but no matter, the staff had no problem accommodating with warmer gear to take the journey. At one point, a staff member offered her own gloves to us to use to keep warm. Would definitely recommend for everyone
