We had a fantastic time and learned so much. Dr. Koura was a fantastic guide, she was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. She helped me & my 2 teens get a deeper understanding of the contributions and influences of African and African American culture in the shaping of our nation’s capital as well as talented figures who made invaluable contributions to our country. I am so grateful to have had this experience with my children. This is one of the best tours I have ever been on. I also have to brag just a little more than Dr. Koura. She is a talented teacher and kept us all engaged with interesting stories as well as questions and little quizzes. She is not only intelligent and gifted but she has clearly discovered the fountain of youth. She looks fantastic and several decades younger than her years of credentials would reflect, and she was in better shape than all of us, including my teens. So Dr. Koura is a super star in every sense of the word!

The tour guide was excellent. I just wish we had more time to take it all in. Maybe a small replica of the tour could be built.

Had an amazing time with Dr. Gibson. She is very kind and patient. The tour itself is a must for us to learn to full history of slavery and the difficulties Africans encountered once they “arrived” to the US. We also learned how Africans Americans attempted to make a name for themselves and it was made difficult, but not impossible. Thanks Dr. Gibson. It was a pleasure learning from you. My son come home talking about the experience.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Dr. Koura. The time passed too quickly since we could have easily spent an entire day with her..She is passionate in her work. So many wonderful things to say. From beginning to end the tour was captivating. Add this one to your list of things to do when visiting the Federal City!

Too much time spent on hearing about a few of the more well known slaves in DC. Not much to see- mostly pictures of individuals sent to your phone. A lot of walking (which was fine) but very little to see.
