Absolutely wonderful morning touring the farm and making a delicious meal with the Kulaniapia Community! Going through the process of taking ingredients strait from the ground and following the entire process makes you appreciate a meal so much more. Aiden and David also do a great job and really help add to the experience

Adrian was a blast from meeting us through the end. Totally different fun experience from collecting the eggs to hand selecting all the veggies from the farm. Returned to the “barn” and prepared the full meal from scratch. Lots of fellowship and entertaining. Well worth the price.

Had a fantastic time with a chef who was very knowledgable about the farm. The location is beautiful and we were able to see the waterfall before and after the lunch. Would recommend for anyone in Hilo. I think we were fortunate we had a great person leading us through the event but the people there rotate quite often so this may change. But it was a fantastic experience!

The farm tour was very interesting and informative. It was fun getting to select fresh items from the farm to cook in the cooking class. Our guide Ayden was enthusiastic about all of it which made it enjoyable. We were able to participate in the cooking at each step and enjoyed the lunch we prepared. The small size of the group was also appreciated. Would definitely recommend this if you are looking for something different to experience.

Eshan, our guide, was amazing. His creative energy for how to use the vegetables grown at the farm for cooking is really amazing. We had a great time. Would do it again.

Young people learning to farm on a working organic farm and sharing their experiences? Solid. And then collectively cooking the vegetables you picked? Outstanding. Next time I want to experience the falls. For sure.

Alright, I feel some expectations in the description of this event were not set, so outside of the farm to table cooking that is advertised, here is an overview of my family's experience: 1. The first 2 hours is a farm tour. You will be outside in the sun or rain talking about plants and the farm itself while your guides harvest food to cook later. This is mostly enjoyable, though the personal spiritual and pseudo-scientific conspiracy theories held by our particular guide aren't exactly appropriate for all crowds. 2. There is a cooking portion once you return to the barn, but you will likely prep a veggie or two and then watch the guide prepare the majority of your meal. There are no recipes, no takeaway skills, no instruction. You are free to just enjoy helping a good home cook make you a meal with locally grown ingredients. Overall, this was a fun experience with some good knowledge if you asked the right questions. The mainland-import farmhands that lead this program are not Hawaiian native farmers but a college-student age non-profit org that runs these tours separate from the resort (all facilities are outside the gated area), and while their depth of knowledge as new farmers is limited they do their best to educate and are very friendly.

We had a lovely time with Katie, Tracy, and Angel. We learned a lot about sustainable farming in Hawaii, as well as plant-based cooking. The meal was absolutely delicious. The conversation was fun and interesting. This class is a must-do.
