This raft company was recommended to us by our VRBO host. It was an excellent suggestion. Our guide Ara was amazing. It was a very fun adrenaline filled experience but we still felt safe and in competent hands. The canyon you raft through is very scenic. The cat at headquarters was very cute. One member of our family (me) was a bit apprehensive before the trip but ended up thoroughly enjoying it.

To start with, the staff was amazing. Spencer was real with us, helping us improve to give us the best experience while maintaining safety. He was very friendly for a tour guide. His sense of humor gave the feel of casually being out on the river with friends while he maintained a stern level of professionalism, never risking our safety. The other staff of Tommy and Mikayla were right there to lighten you up to take off the edge of your nerves while they were right there constantly standing by in case help was needed. The experience was almost unrealistic to think we learned to tackle a thrilling white water rafting trip in just a few hours making me regret we did not take the journey in the last canyon. On a great note though, I get to look forward to returning to do it again to be able tackle the 3rd canyon. BRING IT ON!... "DONT PANIC."

We went rafting for a wedding party and it was a lot of fun! The experience is kind of terrifying, they have you do a swim test across the river since there is high chance of falling off the raft and going for a swim. Some of our party fell off the rafts, but everyone made it to the end safely! Our raft guide Steven with his paw patrol sun glasses made the experience even better! The trip is not for the faint hearted, and I will say I appreciated the adventure more after I made it safely to the end 😂

We had an amazing time! Would highly recommend! Advice: wear at least 2 pair of very warm socks! Overall best excursion we went on during our stay in Alaska! Our guide James was the best! Very patient with us and made our experience a great one!!

So I have really mixed feelings on this trip. My experience was awesome but I definitely felt nickel and dime d and a few things left a sour taste in my mouth. 1. The dry suits do NOT keep you dry. It’s cold water and that’s ok but be prepared and bring extra clothes. I would have liked that warning instead of driving for 2 hours in wet clothes. A guide also interrupted me telling my friend I was wet to tellme I’m dryer than I think. Nope- took off my suit and was soaking wet. I did not like feeling like I was being gas lighted. The suits also stink so definitely bring extra clothes! 2. You go through canyons one and two and then decide if you want to go down the third. The third canyon is awesome! However, we were told you’ll settle the difference at the end and it should be $50-$60. Nope it’s way more— it would have been ok if they were just honest with the price. 3. Pictures- they take pictures and then charge $85 to get a jump drive with all the photos and I think $25 to have one picture emailed. With it being 2022- it’s so easy to share pictures it felt very cheap. 4. I got to paddle and be active in the experience which I enjoyed. However, up to 3 people per boat don’t get to paddle and are just a long for the ride. Positions never switch so they never got a chance. That doesn’t appeal to me at all. That being said- I did have a blast! The experience is cool. I would do it again but maybe with a different company.

My husband and 2 boys took this trip this summer in august and had a great time. Having only rafted a mild river in jasper previously, we were not expecting the intense prep prior to departure. The dry suits were a new experience for us and the second hand barely there sneakers and helmets were quite the accessories. We were transported to the launch site in a shuttle and then received a stern tutorial as to how to survive falling overboard. We then had to demonstrate our skills by swimming across the river, floating downstream on our back, swimming to the raft, getting pulled in by a fellow rafter and then pulling in the next swimmer. After that we were divided into our groups and set off following the guides paddle instructions. Took us a few minutes to get coordinated but it was fun to work together and feel that we were contributing to the control of the raft. Was happy for the helmet after smacking into my sons head on the first rapid and very grateful for his quick thinking when he saved me from going over on the next rapid. (Damn that lack of core strength 😊). We opted out Of the last canyon since that was a class 5 and I felt sure I would be going for a swim. It was great fun overall and an exciting way to start our Alaska trip.

We rafted the first two canions, and it was, not only the best part of this vacation, but may actually be the best time I have ever had on vacation. The canions are exciting and dangerous, and exactly what we were looking for. My three siblings and I rafted along with our aunt. The four of us siblings hadn’t been together since our dad’s funeral 13 years ago. We chose this activity as a family team building exercise, and we haven’t stopped talking about it since. That was over a week ago. In addition to the canions, the guides were experienced and personable. I can’t say enough good things about them. We were half an hour late, holding up the entire group, and our guides only nicely encouraged us to “move like we’re half an hour late” when we were dawdling. Our aunt fell overboard twice and our guide, Greg, was able to pull her back in the raft each time, single handedly, while simultaneously giving us commands and keeping the raft under control. To top all that, Chugach Outdoor takes pictures of the rafters while they’re going downstream and sells the pictures at the end of the trip. Our mother was on shore taking photos the entire time, and the Chugach photographer actually showed her where the best spots were to take pictures! The trip was absolutely amazing. We will do this every time we’re in Alaska.

My family’s Six Mike Creek rafting trip was fun and exciting. We’ve rafted many places across the US (Glacier NP MT, Browns Canyon CO, Deschutes River OR, Snake River WY, Yellowstone WY) and this was the best River we’ve done yet. The two canyons are rough, but manageable and fun. Of the 5 rafts that went down the creek, only one dumped its occupants, but the recovery was quick and everyone aboard was laughing at the experience. Our guide, Christoph was quiet, but extremely skilled. He hit every rapids cleanly which resulted in a very safe trip. Yes, we got wet, but never did I feel endangered. Kudos to Christoph! Also, a lot of reviews talk about the swim test. It nothing difficult except committing yourself to swim and float in the cold water. All thumbs up for this rafting adventure.

Two canyon whitewater trip - not for the faint hearted (or those not in good physical condition). We rafted the end of May, about a week after they opened for the season. There were four of us and the guide in the raft. The swim test was brutal - I'm a decent swimmer but 36 degree water with a dry suit and 'river shoes' (aka old sneakers) made it hard to get across the river. I didn't come out of the "float" part of the swim test early enough and the current was taking me downstream. I had to be 'rope rescued' and trust me, when they tell you if you have to grab a rope put it over your shoulder and turn on your back (as per the safety briefing) that is what you need to do -- I didn't think to do it immediately and was being dragged face first up river. But the guide pulled me to shore and I recovered after swallowing only a smart part of the river. Our guide, Neil (Neal?) was excellent - he provided instructions before each rapids including what to do if we got thrown out of the raft (e.g, swim to the left bank, swim to the right bank, grab the raft). All of us went out of the raft at one time or another (some of us more than once). No one in our boat chose to do the third canyon. You can make the decision on the third canyon after you get out of the last of the 2nd canyon rapids - they will adjust what you paid after the trip is over. I have rafted the Gauley river in WV and this was much more intense. I was glad to have the option to not do the third canyon! It was a great trip, quite professional company and safety is their priority.

Such a good time with some really knowledgeable and fun guides. They provided all the necessary information to allow us to have a safe and enjoyable trip out on the river. Thanks Christoph for showing us how it’s done! Would definitely go back!
