Amanda Leese was our tour guide and we both found her extremely knowledgeable about the Architecture and the History of Wilmington. In fact, it was definitely the best tour I had in the last 10 years. It became evident early in the tour of her passion for Architecture and how it affected the economy of Wilmington and History. If you take any tours in Wilmington, This one with Amanda comes with my highest praise and endorsement.

Our family considered exploring Wilmington “on our own.” I’m so glad we decided to take this tour instead. We learned a lot of interesting information from Amanda in less than two hours. We would not have understood the significance of this location without her engaging retelling of history interwoven with the architecture of the buildings we walked past. We learned relevant information that we talked about for hours afterwards. So worth it!

This walking tour is a must-do if you enjoy learning about the history of our states, want to have fun, and get a little exercise in as well. I bought tickets for my wife as a gift since we’ve enjoyed learning about various cities across North Carolina after moving here almost 8 years ago. This tour did not disappoint at all. Amanda is knowledgeable about Wilmington and takes time to explain the architecture at each stop. She also spends plenty of time explaining the “why” behind many of the changes that happened over the last couple of centuries, and she’s patient to allow as many questions as possible. What I also liked was that Amanda was prepared. For example, unlike other tours we’ve done with other companies, Amanda has a portable microphone and speaker so that you can hear her without any issues. This was a pleasant surprise so we didn’t have any problems hearing her even with loud vehicles passing by. We also liked the stops in between for a refreshing beverage and to take a break. It was a good opportunity to speak with others on the tour to get to know one another which we found very fun, and we got to learn more about the buildings that these places were located. We made new friends during the tour and went to dinner with them afterwards (we traded contact information and will be meeting up again soon!). This tour was not only great at learning about history, but learning about one another and making new friends. Loved every moment and so glad to meet Amanda. She is a hidden gem in the lovely state of North Carolina and everyone should get to know her! Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn more about the city’s history, or just looking for a fun way to meet new friends.

This is a must for anyone interested in Wilmington (and the wider South)'s history and architecture. Amanda is funny, informative and very knowledgeable. The walking is taken at a pace which suits everyone and there are few inclines to climb. It lasts around 1hr 45mins. Well worth it and great value for money.
