Daniel, the tour guide, had a great knowledge and passionate for the history of Fort Dearborn. He showed the school and told me the story how the store was brought down the river. We went through the kitchen items and how their functions. I appreciated the People of Color inclusion in the museum.

Morning for Lauderdale this is one of the most historic places in South florida. It is full of artifacts and artwork by local artists. The staff were very welcoming and personally showed us information on the history of this great city. We are so glad we came here today and thank you to the curator and Florencia for sharing her God-given Talent with us.

We chose the Docent guided tour and truly enjoyed the entire experience from the friendly staff to the wonderful artist co-op. Our Docent Daniel was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell he really enjoys sharing the history of Fort Lauderdale. Kudos to Daniel! I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the early beginnings of this fabulous city. And a great location within walking distance to restaurants and to the New River to complete a perfect afternoon.

This tour taught me a lot about the past and I got to see some things from back in the 1900’s. It was beautiful and I would definitely come again.

The tour was nice, the Tour Guide was knowledgeable, although very little information was given about the Black and the Indian settlements in the area.

Tour leader, Dan, explained the various family and development stories so clearly and personally. I really felt I understood the challenges of those early white settlers and how they managed. Such courage and strength they had. I loved the school house reincarnation. The wooden house needs some seating in the left room - it was a long time to stand. I will be back to see more and continue to learn. The welcome desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The grounds and buildings are well kept and pleasant - some with air conditioning. Thank you all!

Great tour! Lots of historical information and knowledge. Maybe allow more time for the tour, one hour was not long enough : )

I visited the museum on a birthday adventure with my friend. We loved stepping back in time to and learning about the origins of Fort Lauderdale. The museum is well kept and the staff is very friendly. Our docent, Dan, was knowledgeable and a wonderful guide. We loved the added bonus of visiting the artist cooperative on the 3rd floor! Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
