Lin Zexu statue ( 林則徐 銅像 )

The new statue is of Lin Zexu, who helped to ignite the Opium War by banning the drug, to the chagrin of British officials. Those who brought the Lin statue to Chatham Square say they did so to deliver a strong anti-drug message. But the statue carries a strong political message as well: it underscores the ascending power in Chinatown of immigrants from mainland China, particularly the Fujianese.

Our guide was awesome! Some of the restaurants were not very accommodating. The Italian restaurant appeared to be confused that we were there. I've been on other food tours and the restaurant had the samples ready for the group for an easy and quick in and out. I recommend selecting new restaurants that would be appreciative for the potential future business.

It was a great tour. My daughter and I were the only ones because of flight problems for tourists. Andrew was a great guide with a lot of knowledge to foods, original places to see and both China town and little Italy. Hee was friendly, easy to communicate with and went out of his way for us. We can highly recommend this tour!
