Emilio's Ballato

The unique place for the whole NYC where the owners are having the policy of no phones and no ways to make the reservations. This is the VIPs like Lenny Kravits and Barack Obama are having their regular dinner at. If you are wondering what is so special about this place? Well, firstly the Litlle Italy is the place where it is hard to find the decent Italian restaurant that follows the traditions of the country, most of the pizzerias in Litle Italy are pretty influenced with the American culture. However, the Emilio's Ballato is the restaurant that shows the old-fashioned Italian interior and design of the room is lit with crystal chandeliers with the framed photos of celebrities which are lined with faded walls. TLDR: We could have saved about $200 and Googled the best reviewed pizza places in the area. PROS: The pizza was tasty. (Reason for the second star) CONS: - The tour guide didn't introduce himself or ask our names. We eventually introduced ourselves. - The tour guide didn't really tell us much aside from were going to this restaurant. - The guide only ate at the last stop and either was on his phone, randomly taking pictures of us or sat in silence. - We felt like we were doing a lot of the heavy lifting. CONCLUSION: Not much of a tour if you wanted to learn about the pizzas or the neighborhood. There was another pizza tour at one stop with a much better guide which reinforced our feelings about the tour.

We learned a lot of fun and interesting local history about the makeup of NYC while finding out where some great neighborhood pizza places are--with some of their history as well. Local filming locations were included for a variety of TV and movies. We met some of the owners of establishments too. We covered a lot of ground, which I personally enjoyed, getting to see a lot of the everyday neighborhoods outside of the hustle and bustle of Times Square.
