Your Itinerary

Nicholas Quarter

Our starting point is also the only "real" old town of Berlin. But how old is it actually, especially having a war with rain of bombs in mind?

Stiftung Neue Synagoge Berlin - Centrum Judaicum

Listen to the story of civil courage, in which a police officer saved this marvelous building in the night of broken glass.

Koppenplatz

(Pass by)

Here you can find a memorial for the victims of deportation and the Holocaust, designed in GDR times and in harsh contrast to the more well known memorial close to Brandenburg Gate.

Memorial of the Berlin Wall

There are three spots, where the Wall is "still alive" - this is the only part, where you can really understand and expirience what the Wall meant and did to Berlin. Edutainment at it's best.

Mauerpark

Today commonly known for it's Sunday's flea market, this place shows how the city, tortured by the Wall for 28 years, turned into an oasis of free expression.

Humboldthain Flak Tower

Once a giant fortress and air-raid-shelter, it offers a fantastic panoramic view and insights into Nazi-architecture.

Gunter Litfin Memorial

This original watchtower got preserved to remember Günter Litfin, the first person who got shot at The Wall.

Invalidenfriedhof

Cut in the middle by The Wall, this burial place was made for prussian heroes of German military history. It focuses on escape stories, since it is close to multiple former Checkpoints and a canal which was a natural border for east and west Berlin.

Spreebogenpark

From here you have the perfect overview over the governing distrcit of Germany with all it has to offer. Not only what you see is interesting though, but here we also discuss the plans of Hitler's architect Albert Speer and his vision to build the Great Hall, which would have had enough room to fit 180.000 people.

Reichstag Building

Here we stop to discuss Hitler's grab of power and Germany's democratic history. We do not have time to go inside but can get the best of it from the outside.

Memorial to the Sinti and Roma Victims of National Socialism

(Pass by)

One of three memorials for the three biggest victim groups of the holocaust.

Monument to Homosexuals Persecuted Under National Socialist Regime

(Pass by)

One of the three memorials for the three biggest groups of victims during the Holocaust.

The Holocaust Memorial - Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

This biggest genocide memorial in the world, created by the ones responsible for the killing. It's size and importance to history are incredible.

Fuhrerbunker

The place where Hitler hid during the last weeks of war and eventually committed suicide. All you can see today, is a parking lot. We explain why.

Checkpoint Charlie

**Only in the english Version of the tour.** The most famous border station of the cold war, since it was the only shared one between the USA and USSR. Because of that, there was a point in time when the third world war almost started right here in the heart of Berlin.

Very informative tour, our guide David did a great job and is a very nice, authentic guy from Berlin. The distance of about 17 km was easy to finish because of the almost just flat ground if Berlin . Can just highly recommend this tour and David!

What a great way to discover Berlin - we chose the history tour. Although we've been to Berlin several times before our tour guide gave us new insight into the history and present of Berlin with a very personal touch. It was easy to cycle (flat terrain), most times on cycle tracks, he led us safely through the traffic. The bikes were in good shape and comfortable. Our guide Jasper (or Jesper, not sure about the spelling) can be highly recommended. His friendly and communicative way made it easy for everybody in the group to feel comfortable. It was not only facts about the past but he also embedded information about the present in his talks. A fresh approach to discover a city.

My partner and I really enjoyed our tour with Jasper! You cover a lot of ground on the bikes. While you get to ride past the more well known attractions in Berlin, you also get to see more off the beaten path spots. Jasper was really knowledgeable and we learned a lot of new history about Berlin!

Our tour around Berlin was so interesting. Jake was a great guide with many stories and interesting facts to share. He looked after us very well. We covered over 12km on sturdy bikes over mostly flat ground. We will definitely recommend this as a way to see a lot in a short space of time. Thank you.

Excellent tour. The guide, Simone, was very knowledgeable and interesting and was able to introduce quite a few personal stories to the tour, which really enhanced it. Highly recommended

Excellent tour of Berlin. Tour guide was terrific. If you don’t like riding in traffic or on cobblestones, this isn’t the trip for you. We were there during marathon weekend so it was very busy.

David_C

Simon was very knowledgeable and an excellent guide. The afternoon was full of great views, leisurely biking around the wall and memorials.

Jake was amazing. He had an incredible sense of humour & made everyone feel welcome & included. Possibly the best tour I’ve ever done

Penny L

Jake was a great narrator with a good balance between historical details, stories about people and humour (used appropriately). As well as learning about the history this tour was a great was of experiencing Berlin covering a large area but at a gentle pace.
